Different Types of DOG Tags

One of the most important things a boxer owner can do for their boxer is to make sure that he or she has DOG tags attached to their collar. A DOG tag identifies your boxer's name and address in the event that he gets lost and is vital accessory to finding your boxer as quickly as possible.

When it comes to collies there is some debate about the smooth-coat collie. Some breed organizations consider the smooth-coat and rough-coat dogs to be variations of the same breed. Others consider them to be completely seperate.

A DOG tag comes in many different sizes, shapes and colors. They can be made in local Wal Mart and Target stores, as well as pet supply stores around the country for a very minimal cost. They attach to a DOG collar via a double rolled metal ring that usually stays on, but for extra protection, take pliers to crimp the edges together for added security.

The oldest pure-bred British dog is said to be the Corgi. Their proof of existence has been traced back to dogs brought to Wales by the Celts from the Black Sea around 1200 BC.

Today, many boxers are being implanted with microchips about the size of a grain of rice that is inserted under the skin through an injection. However, this method of boxer identification is not so easy as looking at a tag on a DOG collar, and many facilities, especially out in rural areas, don't have the equipment to scan a microchip. Sticking to traditional DOG tags is still the most common method of providing identification for boxers and will continue to be for quite some time.

Dandie Dinmont is a fictional character in Sir Walter Scott's "Guy Mannering", published in 1814. The main character had mustard and pepper terriers. Although Dandie Dinmont dogs were in existence for many years previously, it is this character that gave the breed their name.

Make sure that your DOG tags are kept up to date. If you move or change your phone number, make sure you replace the information on the tag to reflect the change. Sure, DOG collars and tags come off, but if you take the time to adequately size your boxer, purchase the right size collar and make sure you crimp DOG tag attachments, chances are that your DOG tags will stay on for months. Periodically check to make sure that DOG collars fit snugly and have not stretched after use by becoming wet, and tug on the DOG tag occasionally to also make sure it's secure.

The Lowchen, a small, somewhat rare breed of dog, is native to France. It's called "petit chien lion" or, "little lion dog". This is due to its fur growth, as it resembles the mane of a lion.

No one likes to lose their boxer, but by knowing that your boxer is wearing a DOG tag with your boxer's name, address and telephone number on it, chances of recovering your boxer will dramatically increase.

An American foxhound became one of the most amazing mothers in the dog world when she set a record for the largest litter of puppies in 1944. She had not one, not two, not even ten, but twenty-three puppies!

The German Shepherd Dog is also known as the Alsatian, or Deutsche Schaferhund. Rin Tin Tin, probably the most famous American German Shepherd, was actually born in France in September of 1918 and then brought to America later.
