Do Boxers Like to Wear Clothes?

Most people who dress up their boxers do so for one of two reasons. The first reason is because the people find it funny. Let's face it, a boxer wearing clothes is cute. It's a great topic for conversation. It's fun at holidays and parties. However, it's not necessarily as enjoyable for the boxer. Boxers are individuals, just like human beings. Some boxers may tolerate dressing up better than other boxers do, especially if there is food or some reward involved, but that does not necessarily mean that they like it.

While many people think of Boxers as aggressive, they are actually great with children. They were bred to be hunters, yes, but they were bred to corner prey, not kill it. As a result, they are protective, yet patient.

The second reason people dress up their pets is for protection from the cold. This reason is completely valid for certain breeds. For instance, breeds such as the chihuahua originated in warmer climates. Therefore, if you own a DOG that is native to a warmer climate and you live in a colder climate they have trouble keeping warm in such weather. In these cases sometimes a DOG sweater is essential.

Newfoundlands have webbed feet, just like ducks. They also have extremely water-proof fur. Those features, as well as their great strength, loyalty and willingness to learn, make newfies great candidates to work as water rescue dogs.

It is very important, no matter what the reason for dressing up the boxer, to supervise the boxer if it is dressed up. Boxers shouldn't be dressed up in anything that they could easily get tangled in or chew up and choke on. If the boxer does not take well to being dressed up it could easily start running around trying to escape and get caught on doors or other objects.

The greyhound breed originally came from Egypt and was developed about 5,000 years ago. The greyhound breed was known before the ninth century in England, where it was bred by aristocrats to hunt small game.

The bottom line is that if the boxer needs clothes to go outside in the cold or seems to tolerate them ok at holidays or special occasions then there's no harm done. However, if the boxer doesn't need clothes and doesn't seem to like them then they shouldn't be forced into it. Boxers, like people, don't usually like to be forced to do something for someone else's amusement.

The official record for the heaviest dog was set way back in 1989. The dog in question was an English mastiff named Zorba. At the time, he weighed 343 pounds. He was 8 years old when he was weighed.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the longest lived dog was an Australian Cattle Dog named Bluey. The dog lived to be 29. This case was considered unusual since smaller dogs generally live longer. The chihuahua is actually the breed that tends to live the longest.

West highland white terriers began their history as the undesirable white offspring of the dark-colored cairn terrier. With the dog's popularity today, it is hard to believe that the early westies were usually drowned or shot.

About eight thousand years ago, ancient Egyptians began to raise a breed called Saluki, as hunting dogs. Saluki is an arabic word. In english it translates as "noble one". These dogs are probably the oldest known breed.
