What to Look For in a Boxer Bed

When it comes time to provide bedding or a DOG bed for your favorite pooch, there are several things to consider. The most important issue to start with is comfort for your boxer. While such a task may seem simple, it can be a bit more complicated than merely finding an old blanket for your boxer to lie on.

Border collies are excellent at herding. But they don't descriminate between livestock and other things. This makes them great at things like fly-ball, obedience, tracking, fetching, Frisbee toss, and sheep herding. Sometimes they get out of hand though, several border collies have been known to try to herd small groups of children!

Is your boxer an inside or outside boxer? For both scenarios, and depending on the weather in your area, and the season, a simple boxergie pillow, (you can find a great one at http://www.scrooby.com ), may be perfectly adequate and comfortable for your boxer. Still, you must also take into consideration the age of your boxer. In mild weather, a simple, padded, rectangular pillow should suffice for your boxer. Such bedding may come stuffed with cedar chips, foam pieces or some other cotton or wool materials. During inclement weather, make sure your outside boxer has shelter from rain, snow and cold winds.

The bedlington terrier, a large, unique looking breed, is often described as looking like a lamb on a leash. This is probably because it has fur with a wooly texture. As a result of this fur type, the bedlington does not shed.

Doggie beds are also an option, especially for smaller DOG breeds, as they like to 'nest'. The raised sides of wicker, or even a cardboard box, provide an added sense of security for them. These days, DOG beds are also being designed like human furniture, and come in shapes like armchairs and sofas, but you'll pay a little extra for these. When shopping for boxer bedding, take cleaning into consideration. Try to find bedding that comes with a removable cover, or bedding that can be soaked on occasion without ruining its shape and texture.

The Saluki is represented in Sumarian carvings dated back to 7000 B.C. It is said that Whenever one sees the word "dog" in the Bible it means the Saluki, because the Saluki is believed to be among the oldest dog breeds.

Depending on your boxer's size and preferences, you may have to experiment a bit before finding a bed that your boxer will like, and use, but your boxer's comfort and happiness is worth the effort.

Alaskan Malamutes are known for being friendly and loyal. In fact, Chewbacca, the hairy Wookiee in the Star Wars movies and the name of the character of indiana Jones were both inspired by George Lucas' loyal dog Indiana, an Alaskan Malamute.
